Opis Health (“we”, “us”) provides Opis, an AI-powered nutrition tracking app.
Contact:
Email: contact@opis.health
2) What this policy covers
This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use Opis (the “App”), our website, and related services.
3) Information we collect
We collect information in three main ways: (a) you provide it, (b) we generate it, and (c) your device provides it.
A. Information you provide
Account details (if you create an account): e.g., email, name, password (stored as a secure hash).
Nutrition inputs you choose to log: e.g., meals, ingredients, portions, notes, goals.
Photos you upload: food images (and any content visible in them).
Support messages: what you send to customer support.
B. Information we generate (AI-derived)
AI-derived food logs from your photos and inputs (e.g., detected foods, estimated portions/macros, meal timestamps).
Corrections/feedback you provide to improve accuracy (e.g., you edit a detected meal).
C. Device and usage information
Device data: device model, OS version, app version, language, time zone, and similar technical data.
Log/diagnostic data: crash reports, performance metrics, and error logs.
Identifiers: may include IP address and app/device identifiers necessary for security, fraud prevention, and basic analytics.
4) Sensitive / health-related data
Nutrition data and food photos can be considered health-related or sensitive depending on context.
We only use this information to provide and improve the App’s core functionality (nutrition tracking, insights, and user-requested features).
Where required by law, we rely on your explicit consent to process health-related/sensitive information, and you can withdraw that consent at any time (see Section 10).
5) How we use your information
We use your information to:
Provide the App: create your account, store your logs/photos, show history, and generate insights.
Run AI features you request: analyze uploaded photos and convert them into food logs.
Personalize your experience (optional): recommendations, reminders, summaries.
Maintain security and prevent abuse: detect fraud, secure accounts, and troubleshoot.
Improve and test the App: understand performance, fix bugs, and improve accuracy.
Model training / improvement
If you opt in, we may use your photos, logs, and corrections to improve our models and features. Where possible, we take steps to reduce identifiability (e.g., removing direct identifiers, limiting access, and using aggregated evaluation). You can opt out at any time.
6) Where your photos and logs are stored
Your photos and AI-derived food logs are stored on secure cloud services. We use access controls and security measures designed to protect your information (see Section 9).
7) When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these cases:
A. With service providers (processors)
We use vetted third-party providers to help operate the App, such as:
Cloud hosting/storage (to store photos and logs)
AI infrastructure (to process images and generate logs)
Analytics and crash reporting (to improve reliability)
Customer support tools (to respond to you)
These providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
B. With your consent
If you connect the App to a third party (e.g., sharing reports with a clinician, research study participation, exporting to another app), we share data only with your consent and as you direct.
C. For legal reasons or safety
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect users, prevent fraud, or address security issues.
D. Business transfers
If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you if required.
8) Tracking and advertising
We do not use your data to track you across other companies’ apps/websites for advertising.
If we ever add advertising/retargeting, we will update this policy and (where required) request your consent.
9) Security
We use safeguards designed to protect your information, such as:
Encryption in transit (e.g., TLS) and appropriate protections at rest
Access controls and least-privilege permissions
Monitoring and logging for security events
Secure development and incident response practices
No system is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and improve our controls over time.
10) Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
Access your information
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and associated data
Export your data (portability), where available
Withdraw consent (if processing is based on consent)
Object or restrict certain processing in some jurisdictions
Deleting your account / content
You can delete content (photos/logs) or your account via Settings → Account → Delete.
When you delete data, we remove it from active systems and follow a reasonable schedule for deletion from backups unless retention is required by law or for security.
11) Data retention
We keep your information only as long as needed to:
provide the App,
meet legal/financial obligations,
resolve disputes, and
enforce agreements and maintain security.
If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your data unless we must keep certain records for legal, fraud, or security purposes.
12) International data transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. When required, we use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and other lawful transfer mechanisms.
13) Children
[App Name] is not intended for children under [13/16 — choose based on your target and local rules]. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
14) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice in the App or by email. The “Last updated” date shows when it was last revised.
